Beautifying the Yard

Over a couple of weeks, Nick and I made a couple of trips to Lowe's and purchased some plants to decorate the yard and porch with. It was nice to have some nice weather to spend outside. Not too hot, not too cold...we've since had 6 straight days of rain.

We had to pull 3 shrubs out since Brasky's constant peeing on them killed them, and replaced them with a cute flowering tree.

I decided to try growing a rose bush. We picked the Candy Land climbing rose bush. Hopefully it climbs up the fence well.

We also decided to invest in some hanging baskets for the front porch, which we planted Plumerias, and solar lights to line the driveway and porch.

Temple Graduate!

Last Thursday my sister graduated from Temple University. She had two different graduations to attend; one of which the whole senior class was present, and Bill Cosby showed to give a speech, and the second, where her Fox School of Business walked the stage to receive their diplomas.

Saturday, we also took a day trip to the Poconos for the Baptism of Rebecca Lynn, the daughter of our friends Joe and Laura. It was a beautiful ceremony and lunch reception.

Baby Bump Series: Week 14

Apparently the 'bump' is becoming noticeable, even with my scrubs on. One of my co-workers came to me on Friday and stated, "I didn't want to tell you this the other day, but I could  totally see a little baby bump through your scrubs."

I had to laugh. 3 1/2 months, and I'm already starting to show. The pregnancy book I'm reading says that you may not notice your clothes getting snug until 4 or 5 months, if this is your first pregnancy... I guess I'll just consider myself to be ahead of the game.

Nick has a pregnancy application on his phone that changes every week, telling you what is developing this week, about how long the baby is, how much the weight is, and the comparable size. Week 14, baby Hinman has graduated to the size of a lemon, from the size of a peach last week. Yeah,  I think I'm going to try really hard not to think about the size too much, because even at this point I'd be scared to give birth to a lemon.

Baby Bump Series: Week 12 & 13

Time is beginning to fly....oh wait, it's been flying ever since I graduated high school; who am I kidding?

Here, you will find the last two weeks of baby bumps.

Week 12:
Nick and I attended my third doctors appointment.

He beat me to the office, as he was driving there on his way home from work that morning. When I got there, he was patiently waiting by himself in the waiting room. I sat down. He leaned over to me and said, "When I first got here, I thought they might have already called you back. So, I went up to the window and asked for 'Melissa Scheer'; I realized it was a mistake. I've never had to refer to you with your new last name before. It was really weird."

This time we met with one of the Obstetricians, instead of our already favorite nurse practitioner. The OB was very nice. Another "meet and greet" appointment that has pretty much gone just like the last two.

-Greet each other, ask some questions, get some answers, listen to baby's heart beat (159 this time), and schedule an appointment in another 4 weeks.

After the OB had dismissed herself from the room, and I put on my shoes, I looked over to Nick and he had one of these weird grins on his face (the kind where you don't show your teeth). I asked, "What is your deal? You're freaking me out."  He replied, "Oh nothing, I'm just content."  -- How sweet!

Week 13:
Not much to report. I did spend a lot of time out side this past week, attempting to turn my thumb green, but will save that for another post.

On a side note, I am sad to say that I popped a button off one of my dress pants last week (the day of  my doctors appointment). I have since purchased a Belly Band,or BeBand from target, that helps hold up current pants you can no longer button, so you can wear them a little longer before stepping into maturity clothes. I haven't had to try it out yet, because I spend most of my day in scrubs at work, and come home and put on stretchy gym pants.

Baby Bump Series: Week 11

Week 11 has been a busy week.

Tuesday, I woke up early to Brasky dry hacking. Thought maybe he just had to up-chuck, and it'd be over....but it was a cough that didn't stop for almost 3 hours. Got him into see the vet that day, and turns out he has kennel cough. YIKES! Poor boy. Guess being the social butterfly with 35 dogs at the doggie daycare the other week has it's consequences. Nothing a little antibiotics and cough suppressant can't fix.

Friday evening, Nick and I met some close friends at Arcadia University and viewed one of their Senior Art Thesis exhibits.....a series of three very awesome painted self portraits (one, a back view, which we were told required a lot of mirrors in order for her to see herself).

You may recognize her. Becca, was our photographer for my bridal shower, our wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. To view more of her work, log-on to www.rebeccadaniels.com

We finished the night off at a down town bar, catching up on life; no worries, I stuck to plain cherry coke.
Mmmmm. I love cherry coke :-)

A TV in the bar......an we did just that.
Saturday, I worked three hours in the morning, and since then, have been running errands and cleaning up the house. Also had some friends over to watch the UFC fights (sorry guys, I couldn't help falling asleep at the end).

So, once again, I am late posting my weekly picture. Like always however, it was taken on time.

This Wednesday is my next doctor's appointment, and also marks my journey into the second trimester. Already?? According to the pregnancy book I am reading, here en lies the progressive bodily changes. Not so sure I'm ready for it; but ready or not, HERE IT COMES.
