Baby's First Picture

Our first ultrasound was on Friday. After work, I drove home to pick up the hubby. Although he was only running on two and a half hours of sleep, he was excited to go.

The ultrasound took a total of about 45 minutes. The tech was able to point out a few different things: the yolk sac, the baby (which at this point looks like a little line on the ultrasound) and the heart beat! Our dates match up almost exactly with our progress/ measurements that were taken (6 1/2 weeks). The heart beat was so noticeable. The tech was able to calculate the rate: 126 beats per minute.

This is still unreal to me. Pinch me, and maybe i'll wake up?

We asked the tech if we could take home a picture, even though there may  not be too much to see: here's what we got :-)

Baby Bump Series: Week 6

For a split second, I debated not doing the "weekly baby bump picture, " then immediately decided it would be a great visual way to track my progress. Maybe it's still a little early to start, maybe not; but it gives me one thing to do every Wednesday after work, besides go straight to bed! (since I feel like I've been sleeping more lately than actually being awake).

I plan to make a baby scrapbook starting from + pregnancy test. I'm pretty sure this is mainly bloating (my current challenge), but here en-lies the first of the 'baby bump series'.

Already Making Progress

Two days after our positive home test was our first doctors appointment (3/4/11). An initial health history was obtained and another urine pregnancy test was performed. The nurse practitioner stated..."yup, you're pregnant, but must be newly pregnant, because it was faintly positive."

...I swear I knew I was pregnant for almost 2 weeks before our home test was positive. Either I'm more in tune with my body than I thought I was, or I'm profoundly paranoid....

After the appointment was completed, I was sent to the lab to complete the initial set of blood tests. As we were leaving the office, Nick said, "ok, it's real now"...because he heard the 'diagnosis' from someone else.

HCG levels were 207 from that day's blood work.
Today I got a phone call from my OB; my second HCG level drawn last Wednesday was "well above 29,000."
Our first ultrasound is scheduled for this Friday! yay!

Due date November 16th...until proven otherwise by ultrasound.

A New Chapter

As much of a planner as I try to be, I've learned a very important lesson about two weeks ago:

Some things happen with out a plan; or a current plan you have may change in the blink of an eye......or with a simple urine test.

Yes, your eyes are correct; Nick and I are expectant parents!
Home pregnancy test was positive on both 3/2/11 and 3/3/11; had to make sure, even though we already knew :-)

Please, Meet Us in Outer Space, and join us as we open this new chapter of our life together and as we pave our way down a path we've never traveled before.
